Gordon Catcheway

Peacefully with his family and friends by his side, Gordon passed away at Portage la prairie General Hospital on Saturday September 7, 2019 at the age of 68.

Gordon was born in Winnipegosis MB to Alphonse and Martha Catcheway. Gordon was predeceased by his mother Martha and his younger brother George Joseph Catcheway.

Left to cherish his memory are his two sisters Agnes and Mildred, as well as several nieces, nephews and many cousins.

He married his wife Beatrice in 1976 of Waterhen. They had three children, Jeff (Melissa), Sandra (Dave) and Peter. He also had 6 grandchildren Rick, Brendon, Whitney, Taylar, Tyson and Teaghan, and one great grandson Dominic.

Gordon became a born again believer in 1988. He loved attending church and travelling to other communities. He enjoyed gospel music, hunting, church programs, news, and of course his Tim Hortons coffee. Working to live was his way of life. Gordon’s passion was carpentry, contracting, and project managing in surrounding areas of Waterhen reserve. He started a water delivery service for the community, and also served his community as a band councillor until 1996. Gordon moved to Portage la Prairie and worked at Manufab building components until he retired. Gordon continued to be an advocate for many justice issues.

The family sincerely thanks everyone, the doctors and nursing staff of Portage Hospital for providing him excellent care.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday September 14, 2019 at 6 pm, and Sunday September 15, 2019 at 12 noon. Both services will be held at the MNP Building on Island Park in Portage la Prairie.
