Peacefully, on Friday, August 21, 2015, Geraldine Johnson passed away at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 101 years.

Geraldine was predeceased by her beloved husband Ernest in January 1979; children Delores Muirhead, Kenneth Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Murray Johnson and Stuart Johnson; grandson David Johnson and Steven Johnson sisters Doris Smith and Evelyn Hard.  She leaves to mourn her children Beverley (Gerald) Olmstead of Carberry, MB, Gary (Shirley) Johnson of Okotoks, AB and Dwight Johnson of Portage la Prairie, MB; son-in-law Russell Muirhead of Douglas, MB; daughter-in-law Betty Johnson of Portage la Prairie, MB; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; siblings Marion Smith of Selkirk, MB, Helen Young of Parksville, BC, Harry McVannel of MacGregor, MB and Lucille (Tom) Mitchell of Brandon, MB.

She was born in Caye Station.  She married Ernest Johnson on October 29, 1931.  They lived on a farm by Austin where they raised 8 children and she ran a farm while Ernest worked on the railroad.  They retired from the farm and moved to Portage in 1966.  Geraldine took several trips as long as she was able.  She enjoyed all her many grandchildren, playing cards, watching hockey and curling on TV and she loved a good joke.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel at 1:00 pm led by Wilma Shirriff.  Interment will take place on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Austin Cemetery.  Friends and family may gather at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel at 12:00 pm to proceed to the cemetery.
