Peacefully on Friday, September 2nd 2016, Georgina Foster passed away at the Portage District General Hospital after battling cancer at the age of 86 years.
Georgina was born near Corning Saskatchewan, daughter of George and Margaret Whitehead. She was predeceased by her husband Ian in November, 2003; brothers David and Lloyd Whitehead; sisters Evelyn Young and Sybil Fitzpatrick.
Left to mourn her passing are her son Lloyd and wife Sharon, step-granddaughter Cindy, great-grandsons Kyle and Jordon; daughter Cindy and husband Barry Lavallee, granddaughter Ashley and grandson Ryan; sister Irene (Don) Grasley and family, Larry, Terry and Kelly; sister Faith (Barry) Phelan and family, Kim, Kenny and Lorrie; brother Gordon Whitehead; brother-in-law Gordon Fitzpatrick; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends
On June 3rd 1950 Georgina married Ian Foster “the boy next door”. They lived in Regina Saskatchewan for thirteen years before buying the Hall Estate near Langruth Manitoba in 1963. She was a hard working farmer’s wife making a comfortable home for her family. Seeding and harvest brought a lot of extra work cooking and delivering meals to the field. She kept a big garden and beautiful flower beds as well as an immaculate home. After selling the family farm they retired to Blaine Washington USA where they lived for 2 years, then moving to Portage la Prairie Manitoba.
In 2004 Georgina sold her home and moved into Stephen’s apartments shortly thereafter moved into Regency House.
She enjoyed sewing, bowling, bingo and loved dancing.
Georgina will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 1:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, led by Phyllis Thordarson. Interment will take place at Langruth Cemetery.
