George Joseph Catcheway
After an illness, George Catcheway passed away with family at his side on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Boundary Trails Health Centre at the age of 64 years.
George leaves behind his father Alphonse; children Alvin, Stephanie, Reggie, Waylon, Melanie, Bonnie and Bobby; siblings Gordon, Agnes, Mildred; sister-in-law Beatrice; uncles/aunts James (Theresa), Georgie, Martha, Kerry and Margaret; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Martha; aunts Flora and Olive; baby Paul.
George was born in Winnipegosis, Manitoba. He attended and survived three residential schools Brandon, Portage and Pine Creek. He loved doing construction especially building homes as a carpenter. He also worked many years with Canadian Pacific Railway and had many memories and stories from his time there. George loved to spend time with his friends. He also attended church services in Winnipeg (Charlie’s Church) and with Pastor Gilbert in Portage. He had accepted Jesus into his heart.
There will be prayers and viewing on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 7:00 pm at Dakota Tipi Hall. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 11:00 am at Dakota Tipi Hall with Pastor Gilbert Catcheway officiating (Day of Pentecost for All Nations). Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
