Gary Small

February 26, 1932 — March 20, 2022

Peacefully, with his wife of 63 years, Bea by his side, Gary Small passed away on March 20, 2022 at Douglas Campbell Lodge in Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 90 years.

Gary will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Bea of Portage la Prairie, MB, son Brad (Judy) Small of Fort St. John, BC, daughters Dawn (Randy) Okabe of Oshawa, ON and Debbie Small of Southport, MB, grandchildren Brendan and Kelsey Small and Steven and Kailey Okabe and sister Linda (Claude) Ducharm of Winnipeg, MB, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents Bill and Ina Small of Dauphin and sisters Jerri Bennett and Wilma (Mike) Lewicki.

Gary was born and raised in Dauphin. There he received his education and started his working career with Manitoba Pool Elevator and Manitoba Crop Insurance.  In 1959 he married Bea Stitt and together they raised three children.  They made their home in several Manitoba towns over the years retiring in Portage la Prairie.  Gary enjoyed camping, family visits and watching curling. Gary also enjoyed several curling bonspiels and Briers, and took many bus tours.  He volunteered his time through his involvements with A.C.L., A.R.C., U.C.T. and assisted with Special Olympics.

Gary’s family will celebrate his life privately.
