Gary Enns

Gary Enns, at the age of 61, passed away peacefully with family by his side, on Friday, February 28, 2014 at Boundary Trails Health Center.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Joan; son Cory - wife Jo Ann and children: Logan and Nathan; daughter Karen - husband Jeff Peters and children: Lucy and Easton; daughter Kristi - husband Kelvin Thielmann. Also survived by his mother Mary Enns, brother Bob Enns (Vicki), sister Terry Dueck (Jon), sister Jan Voth (Don) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father John A. Enns.

On September 22, 1952 Gary was born at the Portage General Hospital. He grew up on the family farm north of Elm Creek in the Wingham area. On July 26, 1980 he married Joan Penner. Together they took over the family farm and later Enns Insurance from his father. Gary also enjoyed 20 years of driving school bus for the Prairie Rose School Division.

On December 3, 2012 Gary was diagnosed with advanced esophageal cancer. Throughout this most difficult battle his faith and trust in God remained strong. With his positive attitude and hope in the Lord he was a Godly example to those who knew him. He will be greatly missed especially by his family and his four grandchildren whom he dearly adored.

Viewing will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Road South Portage la Prairie, on Friday, March 7 from 7:00 to 8:30pm and at the church prior to the service. The funeral service for Gary will be on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00 am the Portage Alliance Church, 2375 Saskatchewan Ave. W., Portage la Prairie, with interment to follow at the Oakville Cemetery and reception at the Newton Community Fellowship Church.
