Gail Armishaw

It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of our sister Gail Armishaw on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the St. Claude Pavillion after a brief illness at the age of 74 years.

Gail was predeceased by her father Bertram; mother Vera; brothers Wesley, Jim, Ron and Victor.  She is survived by her sisters Joyce, Beth and Shirley; brother Delbert; many nieces and nephews; special friends Jean and Gordon; and many caregivers at St.Claude.

Gail was born to Vera Day Armishaw and Bertram Armishaw on March 5, 1943, the third youngest of nine children.  She was born and raised on the family farm in the Hood district and attended the Hood School.  Gail liked the farm and country living.  She has to work hard from an early age and had many struggles in life but was adored by her family.

At an early age Gail moved to Portage where she became a nanny and loved the children she helped raise especially Curtis, Jeremy and Tammy.  Later Gail took a home care course and worked for eighteen years before ill health forced her to retire.  Every obstacle in life, Gail faced head on and even with the many health issues she encountered, she seemed to be in control until early this year when her body became too tired and weak to continue on.

Funeral Service will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 1:00 pm, led by Pastor Glenn Loewen.  Interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank the staff and Dr. G. Viens at the St. Claude Pavillion for the great care she received.  Also a special thank you to Karen Hodges for being there for us and Gail when we visited her in St. Claude.
