Frederick William Blair

It is with deep regret and sadness that we must announce, that after a short battle with cancer, the passing of Frederick Blair at the age of 68 years, on Sunday May 30, 2010 at the Portage District General Hospital, beloved Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.

Fred was born in Belleville, Ontario on May 25, 1942 and served with the RCAF for 32 years on several military bases in Canada including CFB Chatam, CFB Portage, CFB Trenton and then retired at CFB Edmonton, then returning to Portage for a well deserved retirement.

Fred was predeceased by his father Albert Blair and his wife Cecelia. He leaved to mourn his passing; son Dave (Carol) Lassell and grand daughters Heather Lassell, great grandchildren Cole, Braden and Ava and Amanda (Ian) Lavineway and great grandsons Alex and twins Ben and Nic; son Bob (Dorothy) Lassell, grand daughter Terry-Ann and grandson Michael; daughter Stacey (Elias) Maendel, grand daughters Jessica and Hannah and grandson Kodiak; mother Hazel Blair of Winnipeg; sister Susanne (Murray) Smyth; niece Jennifer (Bob) Marquardson; nephew Robert Smyth and brother Patrick Blair of Denver, Colorado.

At Dad's request, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and Doctors at Portage District General Hospital Medical ward.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Fred's memory to Central Plains Cancer Care 2-318 Saskatchewan Ave. W R1N 0K8
