Floyd Stanley Taylor

On Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Portage General Hospital Floyd Stanley Taylor passed away at the age of 84 years

He was predeceased by wife Clara Taylor in 2000, brother Blake Taylor, sister Coleen O’Halloran and grandson Philip Cunningham.

Survived by son Randy Taylor (Frankie) and granddaughter Mylinda (Sean) McCorkell with great grandchildren Matthew and Brendan McCorkell, the late Philip’s children great grandchildren Tiara and Chad Cunningham, granddaughter Tara Soliman, granddaughter Louise (Jim) Crossman with great grandchildren Rylan and Clara; daughter Jane (Lenord) McClinton; son Andy (Tracey) Taylor with grandchildren David, Richard and Sydney; son Bob (Pam) Taylor with grandchildren Kaelyn, Lane and Brett.

Floyd was born and raised in Poplar Point where he also raised his family.  Floyd supported his family by working in the construction industry.  He started with Lens Electric in Oakville and later Arnold Kitchen in Poplar Point. In 1955  he began with Cobbe’s Plumbing & Heating Ltd and spent 53 years in the service industry until he retired in 2008.  Floyd loved his grandchildren and attended many hockey games, baseball games either by truck or scooter.   He loved his yard in Poplar Point and spent many hours caring for his flowers, garden, grass and driveway.  The Poplar Point cemetery was a special to Floyd and he truly enjoyed maintaining it and making sure it was presentable for all who visited.

Visitation and viewing will take place Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at the McKenzie Portage Funeral Chapel

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 2:30 pm at the McKenzie Portage Funeral Chapel, Portage la Prairie with Rev Julie Baker officiating.  Private burial will be done at a later date.

As expression of sympathy if friends so wish , donations may be made In Floyd’s memory  to The Poplar Point Cemetery, Box 172 Poplar Point Mb. R0H 0Z0  or charity of one’s choice
