Flora Burgess Bailey passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in her 99th year. Flora was born August 22, 1913 in Hamiota, Manitoba to Jane and John Riddick.
She was educated in McConnell and moved to Winnipeg in 1932. Flora married Gordon Bailey in Winnipeg on August 12, 1936. In 1956 she and Gordon took up residence in the Bailey family home in High Bluff. She kept busy raising three boys, maintaining the home in High Bluff, a cottage at Delta Beach and gardening. She was active in the High Bluff community and participated on the Hall Committee for many years. Flora curled, bowled and was very involved in the Horticultural Society and Portage Fair Board.
Predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1993 and her son Douglas in 2011, Flora is survived by her sons Rae (Carole) and Ian (Susan) along with six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Special thanks to the staff on Extended Care at the Portage District General Hospital and staff at Douglas Campbell Lodge for the care Flora received during the past year.
