Joan Milne

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Evelyn Joan Milne (nee Simmons) on December 6, 2017. Joan will be sadly missed by her children: Linda and Steve Sigurdson, Ian and Debbie Milne, Dianne and Ron Nordstrom, David Milne and Charlotte Groves, her son in law Gary Thomas and of course her four precious grandchildren - Darren and Jeffrey Thomas and Taylor and Stacy Milne. She also leaves to mourn her sisters Shirley Ek and Marilyn Houle.

Joan is predeceased by her parents Art and Gladys Simmons, her sisters Barb Simmons and Elaine Heikkenen, her brother Stanley Simmons and her beloved daughter Sheila Thomas.

Joan was born on July 3, 1937, south of Portage in the Hood district. She married Glenn Milne and gave birth to 5 children. Joan spent some time living in British Columbia, and she returned to Portage in 2001.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved family get togethers and going for lunch with her children and grandchildren.

Joan was diagnosed with cancer two years ago. She underwent treatment without complaint and had two great years with her family. The cancer returned in October, and was too much for her to fight. She is now at peace.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

A private family graveside service will take place at the Oakville Cemetery.
