On Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Portage District General Hospital, Evelyn Haddad aged 85 years of Portage La Prairie. Beloved wife of the late Ed (2004) with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Ev was predeceased by her parents Ed and Blondine Kelm, brother Ed Kelm and sister-in-law Audrey Kelm, sister Edith Stanley and brother-in-law Les Stanley, nephew Wayne Kelm, and brother-in-law Bill Schieve. Ev will be greatly missed by her older sister Erna Schieve, nephew Mac (Roselyn) Stanley and their children of Kingsville, ON, and niece Lynne (Ted) Jonasson and their children of Langruth, MB. Ev's special non related family were her neighbours Gordon and Pat Pilkington, their children Lynn, Lana, Lisa, Sheldon and grand kids Kala, Brandon, Daylen, Kaiden, Brady, Ethan (little Ed), Cole, Emily, Liam, and Roy and Betty Knott and their children Jennifer and Blaine and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ev was born June 19, 1925 and was raised in Amaranth, MB. She married Ed on July 22, 1944 and together they owned and operated the Haddads General Store in partnership with two brothers. In 1975 they moved to Portage la Prairie making it their home up to the present time. Her greatest enjoyment was helping Ed in his projects to help crippled and burned children for the Shriners. Ev was surrounded with so many special friends such as those that she had coffee with each morning and those that were members of the Eastern Star, Portage Masonic Lodge and the Khartum Shriners of Winnipeg. She was a person who always loved and respected her neighbors , friends, and family.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie with Wilma Shirriff officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Ev's memory to Khartum Shrine Transportation Fund, 1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3P 1B9 or a charity of choice.
