Ethel "Wendy" Myran (nee Peters)

November 14, 1938 — November 29, 2024

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunty, and friend; Wendy Myran entered the spirit world on November 29, 2024 in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 86 years.

Wendy was predeceased by her son Gerald Myran, husband Tony Myran, parents Herbert and Violet Peters, brother Joe Peters, sister Florence Longclaws and two infant brothers. Wendy leaves to mourn and will be lovingly cherished by her children: son Noel Myran (Trish), daughters Mary-Ann Myran and Geraldine Myran (Wilfred), 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, whom she shared a special bond with. She will also be missed by her sisters Ivy Peters, Sandra Peters, Vicky Lounsbury and Ruby Peters, brother Edward Peters; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Wendy was born on Long Plain Reserve to Herbert and Violet Peters, she was the fourth oldest of ten children. Wendy was a Residential School Survivor. At the age of 19, she met Tony Myran, shortly after they were married and began their life together. They had four children, two sons and two daughters.

Tony and Wendy had a passion for gardening and during their marriage they spent time creating a big beautiful yard and garden. They had everything from apple trees to many different kinds of fruit, vegetables, trees and flowers. Wendy enjoyed sewing, thrifting and going to yard sales. She also liked going to powwows, playing bingo and slots. She enjoyed her TV shows Heartland, Beverly Hillbillies, Little House on the Prairie and Friends. Wendy was a bus driver for 14 years for the Long Plain School, later retiring to care for her husband Tony.

Grandma loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing cards, having BBQ’s, and going to the beach. Wendy spoke her Ojibway language and loved to teach her grandchildren the traditional ways. When Wendy became a great-great grandma this was something she was very very proud of, she cherished and loved all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren with all her heart and it showed every single day up until she was called home.

The family would like to Thank the St. Boniface Hospital and Seven Oaks Hospital doctors, nurses and staff, Long Plain Chief and Council, Eddy Boy Myran, Troy Meeches, as well as the firekeepers which are all her great-grandsons, also Isaac Beardy and Lance Daniels.
