Ernest Christopher "Ernie" Pashe

Suddenly on Friday, December 23, 2011, Ernie Pashe passed from this world with family by his side at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 56 years.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife of thirty years Lena Tacan, son Joseph (Ashley) and daughters Joanne (Joe), Heather (Jason), Serena (Gary), Gina and Toni; grandchildren Michelle, Gary, Michael, Avery, Ramona, Raoul, Dylan, Cameron, Kaley, Shaston, Alexa, Natalie and Blake; great grandchildren Tyrell, Neveah, Mika, Blade and Trevon; his sisters Phyllis Tecza (Rudy), Joyce Lillie (Wayne), Myrna Pashe (Rick), brother Eddie Pashe (Liz) as well as mother-in-law Marina, brothers-in-law Carl (Maxine), Vince (Ann-Marie), Anthony (Leaha) and Kevin (Debra); sisters-in-law Valerie, Sharon (Dennis) and Teresa; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his father Elmer, mother Georgina, sister Jacqueline, brother Knowlson, two infant sisters and father-in-law Victor Tacan.

Ernie was born on March 5, 1955 and raised at Dakota Tipi, educated in Portage la Prairie and attended Brandon University. During his working years he worked as a heavy machinery operator, car salesman, Education coordinator, Director of Outreach, Director of post-secondary education, and D.O.T.C.H.A. Tenant relations officer. Ernie planned and implemented specific business plans to develop casino operations and served as the Manager for the Bingo Palace to help Dakota Tipi toward achieving economic independence which was one of his lifetime dreams. Before that venture, Ernie served as the elected Chief for Dakota Tipi for one term. At the time of his passing, he was Director of Housing for Portage Friendship Centre.

Ernie loved to travel with wife Lena and children, he was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed card nights with his family. He loved working on the family vehicles and spent numerous hours helping family and friends. Ernie's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the lights of his life. He was also known as Papa Ernie to his many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Traditional Wake will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 4:00 pm at Dakota Tipi Bingo Palace. Service to Celebrate Ernie's life will take place on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 with feast to begin at 12 noon with service to follow. Burial will be in Old Sioux Village Cemetery.
