After a short illness Emma began her journey into the hands of our Creator at the Portage District General Hospital on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the age of 83 years.
Emma is predeceased by her husband Frank Merrick Jr.; parents John and Ida McKinney; brothers William, David and Joe McKinney and sisters Elizabeth Houle, Louise Soldier and Catherine Cameron.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Darren; sisters Rosie Scott and Betty Daniels; brother George McKinney; cousin Elsie Pashe; special friends Susan Peters, Milton McIvor, Clifford Patrick and Leslie West and numerous other relatives.
Emma lived in Long Plain most of her life. She enjoyed working, sewing and baking. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends. Family was important to her, spending time with her son, nieces and nephews. Throughout her life she worked numerous jobs and worked for 15 years at McCains.
Traditional Wake will begin on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 5:00 pm at Long Plain Spirit Lodge. Traditional Feast and Service will take place on Friday, September 13, 2013 beginning at noon followed by interment at the Dauphin Myerion Cemetery.
