Peacefully on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Douglas Campbell Lodge, Ella Roy passed away at the age of 85 years.

Ella was predeceased by her husband David; son Lauren; great grandson Calan Blair; parents Cecil and Jane "Jean" May and brothers Fred, John and Philip.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Linda (Roy) Blair of Portage la Prairie with grandchildren Monica (Monty) Trimble with great grandson Lucas, Victoria Blair, James (Connie) Blair with great granddaughters Trista Ducharme and Calli Blair; daughter Shirley Roy of Winnipeg; daughter Mary Ann Roy of Stettler, Alberta with grandchildren Heather Burte and Christopher Burte; son Charles Roy of Grand Prairie, AB; daughter Darlene Roy of Winnipeg; and son George (Sylvia) Roy of Portage la Prairie; daughter-in-law Colleen Roy; siblings Mary Maxwell of Belmont, Murray May of Killarney, Florence (Al) Tobey of Owen Sound, ON, Earl (Teressa) May of Winnipeg , Allan May of Killarney, MB and sister-in-law Ruth May of Brandon; and niece Betty Ann Horbay (nee Roy) of Alberta and nephew Ken Roy of Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Ella was born on February 16, 1927 in Ninga, Manitoba. She and her family resided in several small towns (Ninga, Bowsman, Dunrea and Ninette-Killarney) during her formative years. After grade 8, Ella and her sister Mary moved to Winnipeg to work in a sewing factory. She married David Roy in Winnipeg on January 26, 1952 and moved to the farm in Burnside making that her home where she raised her seven children. Ella spent much time in gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed being involved in board games or working on a jigsaw puzzle. Church was important to Ella and she served on the Women's Missions Group and the Hostess Group at the First Baptist Church and later served on the Hostess Group at the Portage Alliance Church.Her soft ways and cheery smile will truly be missed.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the First Baptist Church (102 _ 3rd Street SE) led by Pastor Ken Sheppard, with viewing prior to the service. Ella will be laid to rest in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Ella's memory to Parkinson Society Canada - Manitoba Region, 204-825 Sherbrook St. Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5.
