Elizabeth Doreen Emily Boyle
(nee McDonald)
Peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, Elizabeth "Beth" Boyle the wife of the late Bob Boyle passed away, at Douglas Campbell Lodge at the age of 85 years.
Beth will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Bonnie Smith (Brian), Bette Kleemola (Allan); sons Brent Boyle (Wanda), Barrie Boyle (Shelley), and Blaine Boyle (Nicki); 10 grandchildren: Jason Kleemola, Chad Kleemola, Jennifer Ageeb, Tracy Finney, Geoff Kleemola, Kristen Kleemola, Christopher Boyle, Jiness Gyselink, Britt Boyle, and Tanner Boyle; 9 great grandchildren; brother Hubert and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Chester and Margaret McDonald and brothers Howard, John, Lloyd and sister Margaret.
Mom was raised on a farm north of Portage. She worked as hard as any hired hand and got along well with her dad. She talked about stooking in the fields and helping prepare huge meals at harvest time. She loved to ride her pony, Topsy and tend to the barn cats; this carried over to helping care for family pets later on when her children went on vacation.
Beth married Bob in May of 1947 after he returned from overseas. They settled into a new home in Portage in 1955 where she stayed until this past August. She worked as a homemaker and raised five children. She was a talented seamstress early in her marriage and then sewed many clothes for her children, often staying up well into the night to finish a sewing project. She played bridge with neighborhood ladies and sold Avon for many years. She was a great cook and baked delicious cakes and pies for all occasions, never missing a birthday or anniversary. She listened to the radio, especially old-time fiddling in the later years.
Following Bob's retirement, they travelled through Canada and the USA visiting family and friends. She enjoyed watching family baseball, hockey games and camping in the motor home.
Mom was a loving and caring person and she will be dearly missed by many.
A special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Douglas Campbell Lodge for their great care.
As per Mom's wishes a Private Family Service will take place. Interment will follow at the Hillside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Beth's memory to the Manitoba LungAssociation Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6.
