Elissa Teanna Smoke Miskwaa Aki Ojichidaa “Red Earth Warrior” was born June 17, 1997 in Portage la Prairie, MB to Geneva Smoke and Leslie Craig Myran. She entered the Spirit World the early morning after her birthday on June 18, 2017.
Elissa achieved many accomplishments throughout her young life. Elissa was a member of the Portage Ringette team and she always enjoyed playing sports. In her early years she worked at McDonalds as her summer student job. When Elissa became a mother she was proud of her boys with everything she had. She loved her boys immensely and being a mother was second nature for her. Elissa loved family gatherings, big or small, and she spent many happy hours with her Papa Les, KooKoo Phyllis, Auntie Tanya, and her cousins Chassy-Rae and Ambria. Elissa also loved spending time with her sisters and friends , whether they were hanging out together eating pizza from Dominos, singing along with the car radio or keeping in touch on the phone, or by message. She was known for her beautiful smile, jovial and outgoing personality, and her gracious heart. But most of all she was known to love and be proud of her two boys, Caelib and Kilonen Smoke.
Elissa is survived by her two sons, Caelib “Gus” and Kilonen “Kilo”, her father Leslie Craig (Jessica) Myran, her mother Geneva Smoke (Joseph Merrick), her partner and father to the boys, Keanu Roulette, brothers and sisters Sancia (Lance), Karlie (Keith), Nicole, Crosbey, Canyon and baby sis Lesley, Jozef, Bryan and Felicity, nephews Kaelynce and Baby Daniel, grandparents Leslie & Phyllis Myran and Diane Smoke, and close friends Kaylen Meeches and Cheyanne McCaffrey, as well as many aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.
Elissa was preceded in death by her maternal great grandmother Evelyn Taylor (nee Smoke), grandfather Seth Horned Eagle Jr. of Yankton Sioux Tribe, nephew Leslie Tatum Smoke of Long Plain, paternal great grandparents Louis Sr. “Grandpa Moon” & Louisa Myran, and Ben & Jean Meeches, Uncle Ray Roulette and close friend Shanna Peters.
Family has hailed in from the four directions to share their love and support at this time.
