Eleonore Bryson

July 5, 1951 — September 22, 2015

Eleonore Bryson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eleonore Bryson; mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Eleonore will be lovingly remembered by her children Erin, Jennifer (Dave) Turner, Tony (Elaine) and grandchildren Justice, Calista, Seth, Chloe, Lauren, Maren, Mackenzie and Delaney

Eleonore is also survived by her siblings John (Brenda) Baart, Mary (Greg) Young, Georgette (Vic) Bourgeois, Grace (Brian) Tenszen, Bernadette Johnston, Hubert (Esther) Baart and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Greg and her parents Leon and Nell Baart

Eleonore was born on July 5, 1951 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. She graduated from Arthur Meighen High School and while there she met her sweetheart Greg Bryson, who she married in 1970. In their first years of marriage they lived in Thompson and in 1974 the family moved to High Bluff. It was at this time that she pursued her financial career at the Portage Credit Union. She started as a teller and because of her strong work ethic and continual quest for knowledge rose to the position of Branch Manager of the Westend Credit Union. After 25 years of service, she shifted her focus to the family business, Midtown Market which she and Greg retired from in 2010.

She was an active member of the Catholic parish. She was also an involved member of a number of community organizations including Accessing Community Living, the Soup Kitchen, and later with the Portage and District Recycling.

Eleonore loved spending time with her family. One of the highlights of her retirement was a recent trip she made with her children and eight grandchildren to Disney World.

Eleonore was highly respected by everyone she befriended. One of the greatest gifts she had was her unconditional love for family and friends.  She cared deeply about those around her and always made birthdays and holidays a special occasion. Her love for flowers was evident in her yard but her greatest joy was her family.

Prayers and visitation took place on Friday, September 25, 2015 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. Funeral service was held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church with Father Gerald Langevin officiating. Reception followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Eleonore’s memory to the charity of your choice.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.  204-857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
