Edward Albert Woodward
With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Eddie Woodward on Sunday, July 4, 2010, in the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 83 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Charlie and Edith Woodward, grandson Marc, brothers Stanley (Pat), Kivil, William and Elmer (Helen) Ross and infant sister Nancy. Left to treasure his memory are his beloved wife Adele of Portage la Prairie; children Marie (John) Roels of Gilbert Plains, Irene Woodward of Portage la Prairie and Clifford (Leanne) Woodward of Portage la Prairie; grandchildren Katrina (Rick), Tamara (Chad), Shantal (Jason), Shawn (Becky), Cody (Tracy), Sabrina and Scott; and great grandchildren Kassandra, Anthony, Brooke, William, Gage, Rhada, Sasha and Aiden. He also leaves behind his siblings Hartley (Margaret) Woodward, Dale (Joyce) Woodward, Elva (the late Howard) Keast, Connie (the late Doug) Henry, Louise (the late Ben) Patsack all of Portage la Prairie, Claudia Basler of Burlington, ON, sister-in-law Pat Woodward of Portage la Prairie as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.
Born October 21, 1926 at Lavenham, Manitoba, Eddie grew up and worked on the family farm. He married Adele 55 years ago and together they raised a family of two daughters and one son. Eddie's career in automotives started about 45 years ago at Brown & Lowrey (Smith Motors). He was a member of the Army & Navy and the Royal Canadian Legion. Dad and Mom enjoyed dancing, shuffle board, darts and horseshoes with friends. There was an occasional game (darts, horseshoes etc) for dishes. Dad rarely lost! Later on, he and Mom liked to wager on T.V. sports. Family and friends were his number one priority. Eddie was greatly loved and will be sadly missed and always remembered.
Service to celebrate Eddie's life will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 5:00 pm at the Henry Heritage Homestead, Hwy 242 S, 2 miles south of Rossendale, led by Wilma Shirriff.Interment is to follow at Rossendale Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Eddie's memory to a charity of choice.
