Edward Steven Solomon
On Monday, December 19, 2011, Edward Steven Solomon passed away in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba at the age of 75 years.
Dad was born in Brandon, January 20, 1936. He grew up at Oakland and here in Portage la Prairie. He and Mom (Gwen Moon) were married on October 25, 1958 and lived in Portage all their lives. Mom's passing in 2005 was a great loss for Dad.
Dad worked his entire live selling "FORD". To Dad there was no other! Beginning in the parts department at Brown and Lowry's, which became Smith Motors and then moving to sales. He spent the majority of his sales career at Tecza's moved on to Westward Ford, and finally "retired" to sell cars for Allen Watson. He was proficient at his job, earning many achievement awards from the Ford Motor Company for top sales. He served his customers well.
Dad enjoyed community involvement and served on various boards throughout his active years. He made many lifelong friends and served the community through the Kinsmen, K-40, and Lions Clubs.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son Gary and grandchildren Torry, Teigan (Sean), and Lucas, (Brenda); daughter Barb Shewfelt (Keith) and grandchildren Jenny (James) and Brian (Kayla); son Jim (Aileen) and grandchildren Josh, Caleb and Jacinth.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Victoria (Kuharski) Solomon, his brother-in-law Mike Lewadniuk, and his sister June Tomalin. His brothers-in-law Bud Moon, Cal Hughes, Bill Cornick and sister-in-law, Doris Cornick.
Besides the immediate family he leaves to mourn his passing his brother-in-law George Tomalin, brothers Jack (Joan) Solomon and Don Solomon; his sisters Sonia Lewadniuk and Shirley (Garnet) Love. Also a large Moon family connection including Keith (Pat) Moon, Maisie Moon and Audrey Hughes; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 1:30 pm at the Portage Evangelical Church.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Edward's memory to Portage Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Box 1426, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3N9.
