Edward Bruce McAuley

Edward passed away peacefully at Douglas Campbell Lodge on August 24th, 2024 at the age of 82. He was known to his family and friends as Dad, Papa Ed, Ed, and Eddie. 

Ed leaves to mourn his children: Carolyn Brown (Dale), grandson Cody (Sam), Doug McAuley (Alana), granddaughter Kylie (Nick), and great grandson Becker, grandson Walker (Taylor), Patty Goulet (Normand), and grandchildren Shyla and Wyatt. Stepchildren Barb Boak (Will) and family. Brother Grant McAuley (Penny) and nephew John. Sister-in-law Jean Hunter and family, brother-in-law Gerald Lyttle and family, cousin Harold Cress (Diane) and family, as well as special friends Doug and May Garnham, Jack McGowan, and Jane Garnham and family. 

Ed was predeceased by his loving wife Carole McAuley (Lyttle), partner Fern Kasijan, parents Bruce and Lil McAuley, mother and father-in-law Doug and Verna Lyttle. Brother-in-laws Barry Moffat, Don Hunter, and sister-in-law Sonja Lyttle. Nephew and niece Terry and Susan Lyttle. 

Ed was raised in McAuley Manitoba. At the age of 16 he moved to his Aunt Carrie & Uncle Normand’s in Portage la Prairie and met his future spouse, Carole. They married in High Bluff and lived for many years on the Lyttle Farm on the Flee Island Road. They raised three children, traveled down the road taking the two girls to fairs across Manitoba. He made many good memories with his horse family. Ed went back to school to get his plumbing certificate, and this became his career for many years. He then worked at Douglas Campbell Lodge as Clerk of Works. The family joked about picking out his room. After Mom passed, he found friendship with Fern and they spent years travelling. They had a campsite at Lynch’s Point and enjoyed their time out there. We all became one big family. 

After the passing of Fern, Dad moved back to the farm and lived under the care of Doug and Alana. He then moved to Regency for a short time and finally to Douglas Campbell Lodge. Here he made many friends and really enjoyed the staff that took care of him. 

A private graveside service will be held as per Ed’s request. 

The family would like to thank all the staff at Douglas Campbell Lodge and Portage General Hospital for taking such great care of him.
