Edward Houle was born on November 20, 1955 in Portage la Prairie, MB and passed away on March 19, 2023 in Calgary, AB.

Edward was predeceased by his grandparents Joe YellowQuill , Ojibway, Midawin; Mary (Pashe) YellowQuill, Lakota Oyate, father Norman Andrew YellowQuill, mother Flora Jane Houle / YellowQuill, Sandy Bay and Lebret IRS, spouse Joan Assiniboine Houle, sisters and brothers Victoria YellowQuill, Stella (YellowQuill) Smoke (Gordon Smoke), Peggy (YellowQuill) Eastman, Eva (YellowQuill) Fontaine (LaPorte), Daisy YellowQuill, ,Louie Daniels YellowQuill, Gladys Hearns YellowQuill, Kathy Laporte YellowQuill, Elvis Houle/ YellowQuill, Floyd Houle / Roulette, Children’s Aid, Denise Houle Roulette, Children’s Aid, and nita Alexander Contois, P.O.W., Hong Kong Veteran WWII.

He is survived by his spouse Debra Houle (Smoke) sons Edward Thomas Houle YellowQuill, Ren Smoke YellowQuill, and Christian Smoke, daughters Marissa Smoke and Misty Pratt, brothers and sisters Norman Houle/YellowQuill, Brandon and Portage IRS, Peter Joseph YellowQuill, Brandon and Portage IRS, Ogima, Chief of LPFN, Howard Houle Roulette, Children’s Aid, Marcus Houle Roulette, Children’s Aid, Norma Houle Laporte Yellowquill, Brandon and Birtle IRS, Elizabeth YellowQuill, Brandon and Birtle IRS, Dolphine (Dolly) Abraham, Children’s Aid,  Barbara Thompson, Children’s Aid, and those relatives still to be found and Nita/Elder Russell Eastman, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Last watch will take place at Long Plain Spirit Lodge on Friday, March 31, 2023 beginning at 4:00 pm.  Traditional, Christian and Military services will be held at Long Plain Spirit Lodge on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 1:00 pm, followed by burial at Yellowquill Cemetery.
