It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Edith Garnham on Monday, June 20, 2022 at the Portage General Hospital at the age of 87 years.
Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are her six children, Christine Garnham, Ken (Barb) Garnham, Bonnie Garnham, Gloria (Ron) Hilton, Debbie Steuart and Rick Garnham, her adopted daughter Norma Dauphinais and her girls, 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory is one sister, Bertha Manns and one brother Dick (Joan) Hay, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Edith was predeceased by the father of her children, Stanley Garnham, parents John and Agnes (nee Shand) Hay, brothers Alex, John George and Ronald, sisters Betty and Dorothy, great-grandchildren Kyle and Blake and great-great-granddaughter Aubree.
Mom was born on October 5, 1934, the youngest daughter of John and Agnes Hay. She lived in Grandview, MB for most of her life before settling in Portage la Prairie, MB. She was employed for 20 years at the Manitoba Developmental Centre before retiring. Mom enjoyed knitting, sewing, doing jigsaw puzzles and diamond dotting. She loved spending time with her beloved dog, Kobi, who sadly passed away in February 2022.
A time of viewing and visitation will take place on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 7:00pm – 8:00pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. As per Mom’s wishes there will be no formal funeral service.
The family will have a private interment at a later date.
