Edgar "Big Ed" Lee Hobson

January 1, 1964 — June 13, 2024

-Two Eagles Circling-

With great sadness we announce that Edgar “Big Ed” Hobson began his journey to the Spirit World on June 13, 2024 at his home on Long Plain First Nation at the age of 60 years.

Ed had a big heart, and was a kind, caring man who loved to take care of those around him. He had lots of family in Long Plain and Swan Lake and made a point of keeping in touch with all of them.

He was a self-taught chef and could be found at the BBQ any time of the year, no matter the weather. He loved to cook for his family and visitors and could always be counted on to show up at family feasts with one of his delicious stews. He loved hunting, especially in the Shilo Hills with Rob Daniels, working on vehicles, and when he was relaxing, his favorite movies were Guardians of the Galaxy 1&2, and he loved to watch hockey, and if there was no tv available, he would listen on the radio. Nothing made Ed happier than spending time with his grandkids, taking them on many adventures, and always ready for them with treats in his pocket.

Ed’s smile could light up any room that he entered, and he will be missed by everyone that loved him and called him a friend.

Left to mourn Ed’s passing are his wife of 25 years, Loretta Lynn Myerion, children Irvin and Kaitlyn Myerion, grandchildren Nahtral “Charlie” Myerion and Thomas Lane Myerion, mother Joyce Olson (nee Merrick) of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation and brother Bryan Hobson of Toronto, ON, as well as numerous extended relatives that he loved dearly.

He was predeceased by his father John Hobson, grandparents Flora and Angus Merrick, brothers Kim Hobson, Doug Hobson and Glenn Hobson, sister Lois Hobson, son Joseph Beaulieu, grandchildren Liberty and Angus Hobson and Dorian Myerion, and special nephew Dale Myerion.

Ed’s family will celebrate his life privately.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
