Douglas Stanley Leonard Roberts

August 30, 1977 — August 4, 2024

On August 4, 2024, Douglas “Doug” Roberts passed away at his home at the age of 46 years. Early on that Sunday morning Doug left us to go to his final resting place. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family, friends, and especially his dear wife Lisa, their 10 children: sons Shayne (Jewel), Brayden, Addison, Drake (Monica), Cameron (Brandy), Doug Jr., Eric and Spence, daughters Riviera and Izabella; grandchildren: Deriah, Isaac, Isaiah, Benjamin, Daisy, Addison, Clementine, Scotlynd, Dayton, baby Doug, Monte and Kai; parents Marlene Roberts and Dan; mother-in-law Sonia Traverse; aunts Joyce Smeall and Susie Dyck; uncle Doug Roberts; along with numerous extended family. He was predeceased by his father-in-law Bill Traverse, mother-in-law Betty Travers, maternal grandparents Stan Roberts and Vivian Spence whom he loved dearly, aunt Sharon Roberts, sister-in-law Tammy Traverse, brothers-in-law Shawn Travers and William Thomas.

Doug was born and raised in Winnipeg by his dear mother Marlene, he was his mother’s first love and her World. Doug had very special relationships with all the women in his life, he put Lisa first, as well he truly loved and respected his mother, his late grandma Vivian, his aunts, especially Sharon, mothers in law, sisters in law and daughters. Doug’s late grandmother Vivian would often travel to Portage to stay and visit, she was fond of Doug and the grandsons.

Doug’s life truly began when he met the love of his life Lisa in 1994, they married in 1997, spending over 30 years together. They had 8 handsome sons and lovingly opened their home and raised Riv, Drake and Bella and eventually became loving grandparents. Their love story began at 16 years of age, Lisa teased, of course he had a Slurpee. Quickly beginning a life together, they spent 6 years in Winnipeg, but decided to make roots for their growing family in 2000 at Portage la Prairie before Cam was born. Doug was a devoted husband, he cherished Lisa, always putting her first. What Lisa thought and wanted; Doug enforced. Lisa wanted Doug to stay home with the boys while she go to work and later University to provide for their family, Doug agreed. They worked hard together to raise their sons and build a life for them, eventually Lisa graduated and they were able to purchase their home. They did everything together to provide for their wants and needs.

Lastly, we will always cherish in our memories how loving and kind Doug was to every person he crossed paths with. You would never see Doug disrespect another person. Our family lost a great man, he was so special and shared unique relationships with his family and friends.
