Douglas Bruce Corbett

Peacefully, on Wednesday March 28, 2012 at the Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, Douglas Corbett passed away at the age of 82 years.

Doug was born on April 3, 1930 in Orangeville, Ontario. The family lived on the farm and he attended school there. Later, he moved to Toronto and lived with his grandpa where he had various jobs. He moved to British Columbia to work in the goldmine, and lived with an uncle. At age 18 he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and spent the next 25 years moving across Canada. He was stationed in Claresholm, Penhold, MacDonald, Calgary, Ottawa and Winnipeg. While stationed in Calgary, he met his wife Marlene. They later moved to Ottawa and then to Winnipeg. After retirement from the Air Force, he was employed by the Provincial Government. He was very active in his community. He served on the board at Heritage Community Club and coached his children's hockey and softball teams. Doug was a member of Westwood Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and volunteered at Flora House Mission and Camp Prescawa. He was also a member of the Legion. Doug liked curling and golfing, camping and traveling with his family. In the later years, he spent every morning at the coffee shop with friends.

Doug was predecreased by his parents Stewart and Ethel Corbett and brother Reg.

He is survived by his wife Marlene, daughter Heather (David) Tuttle, granddaughter Celine Tuttle, son Brian Corbett, sister Elnora (Howard) Bible, sister-in-law Joan Corbett, brother Mel (Shirley) Corbett, sister-in-law Beverly Meseyton and extended family.
