With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Douglas Gene Beauchamp Sr. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Long Plain First Nation at the age of 62 years.

Doug was predeceased by his parents Norman & Elise (nee Prince) Beauchamp; sisters Kathy, Barbara and Evelynn Donna (infant); and brothers Bob and Alfred.

He is lovingly remembered by partner Janet Ducharme and previous spouse Pauline Beauchamp; siblings Bill (Hilda), Ken (Susan), Mary, Donna and Elenor (Cecilio); children Ivy (Reggie), Lesley (Jamie), Douglas Jr., Lisa and Donovan; grandchildren Kathryn, Melodie, Shavez, Shaden, Shoel, Lakea, Shando, Carmen; great grandchildren Nathaniel, Sage, Jonas and Kashtin.

Doug was born in MacGregor to Norman and Elsie on February 1, 1950. He loved to play and watch baseball and hockey and was a goalie in his youth. Doug was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to cook. He had the privilege of becoming the youngest Journeyman to receive his plumbing papers in Manitoba at the age of 22. Doug worked with numerous organizations throughout Manitoba including; Shewfelt's, Cobbe's, Southport, Beauchamp Plumbing and Heating, Gallagher, Long Plain, Heartland Plumbing and Heating, Ron McRorie and Shamattawa where he also taught community members to become plumbers. Doug also worked in Swan Lake teaching the womans group carpentry.

A Wake will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge beginning at 4:00 pm. Traditional Feast will commence at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge followed by the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at MacGregor Cemetery. Pallbearers are Garnet Meeches, Ray Ducharme, Sterling Peters, Randy Merrick, Francis Longclaws, Dusty Peters, Jeremy Prince and Jessie Smith.
