Dorothy Marie Hannah

With great sadness we wish to announce that Dorothy Hannah of Poplar Point, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 81 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Hannah; parents George and Susan Jackson; brother Edward Jackson; brother-in-law Joe Warren and grandson Arthur Twiss.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lynn (Arthur) Twiss, Robert (Marilyn) Hannah, Clifford Hannah, Holly (Jack) Rehill, Wendy (Stanley) Twiss, Floyd (Darlene) Hannah, Kenny (Diane) Hannah and Eddy (Kerry) Hannah, all of Portage la Prairie and area; siblings Marjorie Warren, John (Theresa) Jackson, Donald (Christine) Jackson, Gordon (Ethel) Jackson,Malcolm (Margaret Ann) Jackson, Jane (Bob) Daneault and Ralph Jackson; sister-in-law Thelma Hannah as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families.
Dorothy was born on November 15, 1931 to George and Susan Jackson, she was the second born of nine children. She received her education at Kelvin school but at the age of 15 she left home and went to work. At the age of 19, Dorothy met Kenneth Hannah. They were married on September 29, 1951, and together they had eight children. Dorothy stayed home to raise all eight children but at the age of 47, she decided to return to the work force. In her retirement at the age of 60, Dorothy enjoyed going on many trips with her sisters and visiting with friends and family. She also enjoyed having family gatherings with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a funny and courageous woman and will be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013 at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Portage la Prairie at 1:00 pm led by Rev. John Dolloff. Interment will follow at the Oakville cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba – Portage Office, 103 Wilkinson Crescent, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1A7.
