Dorothy Ida Davies
With family by her side, Aunt Dorothy passed away peacefully in Portage District General Hospital on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by many nieces, nephews, friends and everyone who knew her. Dorothy was born at Edwin, Manitoba on March 20, 1913 the fourth in a family of seven. She was the last remaining member of the original Davies family.
Aunt Dorothy worked at Pragnell's bakery for 34 years and she really enjoyed her time at Holiday Retreat. Aunt Dorothy taught Sunday School and worked in the churches Women's Aide. She looked after her mother for many years.
Aunt Dorothy was very feisty and had a really good sense of humour and she had a wit about her to get her way. She will always be fondly remembered for having wrapped candies.
In 2008 Aunt Dorothy moved to Douglas Campbell Lodge, where she met many people who became her friends.
Dorothy will be laid to rest in the with the family at Hillside Cemetery.
A Memorial Service will take place at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 2:00 pm.
