Dorleen Madeline Popko
(nee Ducharme)
After a long illness and with her family by her side on March 28, 2012 at the Portage District General Hospital Dorleen Popko passed away at the age of 76 years.
She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Gertrude, son Morris, sisters Kathleen and Beatrice and daughter in-law Breega.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Walter; children Brenda, Timothy, James (Rhonda), Karen (Craig), Lloyd, Kelly (Kellie) and Della; grandchildren Michael (Wendy), Ryan, Cory, Haley, Chantel, Elaine (Thomas), Gregory, Ashley, Tyler, Tanner, Dana (Jeff) and Sara and eight great grandchildren. Dorleen will also be missed by her brother Lloyd of Calgary; sister Deborah (Vern) of Belmont and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorleen was born in St. Claude, Manitoba on June 11th, 1935, was raised on her family's farm and attended the Bell School. She had different jobs over the years but enjoyed her position as switchboard operator at the Manitoba School the most. Dorleen loved fishing, playing cards, impromptu picnics, teasing her grandchildren and visiting with family and friends.
Prayers will take place at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church at 1:00 pm led by Rev. Eric Giddins.
As expression of sympathy, if family and friends wish, donations may be made in Dorleen's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 a�" 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6.
