“Bluebird”
January 27, 1958 – February 19, 2016
On Friday, February 19, 2016 many angels surrounded our loved one to take Doreen Meeches home to be one of them. Happiness, good health and angel wings were replaced with the pain and suffering our beautiful relative had endured. She had a heart of gold, always helping in every way she could. An example was sharing and delivering food to certain individuals who were less fortunate because she didn’t like seeing people go hungry. Doreen was well loved and respected in the community. Her many years of service in the community involved medical driver, nihb clerk, and Headstart Cultural worker where she was employed till she took ill. Her favourite past times were being a devoted grandma to Cole, Chase, Shya and Kyra and driving around with Ashley and Jane looking for sales and garage sales. All three of them would always go out for lunch, joking and laughing all day. Her quiet times were spent reading novels, she also loved cooking and having BBQ’s for family gatherings and events.
She was predeceased by her father Herbert Daniels; mother Gladys Meeches; sister Debbie Meeches; brother Morris Meeches; grandparents Ben and Jean Meeches, John and Gladys Daniels and special niece Roxane Meeches.
Doreen leaves to mourn her loving caring husband and best friend of 31 years, Ashley Wescoupe (who was there with her every day and took great care of her right till the end); son Christopher Dale Meeches who she was so proud of and loved so much; grandchildren who meant the world to her Cole (Mariel), Chase (Sarah), Shya and special babygirl Kyra; great granddaughter baby Amira; brother Brian (Linda) Daniels; sisters Valerie Cameron, Rita Meeches and Jane Meeches; mother-in-law Gloria Linklater; special friends Josephine Paul, Joan Assiniboine, Maggie Assiniboine, Lorna Wescoupe, Margaret “Peggy” Meeches, Sharon Daniels and Darlene Azure; uncle George Meeches; many nieces, nephews and extended families on the Meeches and Daniels side.
Traditional Wake will be held at Long Plain Spirit Lodge on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 4:00 pm. Traditional Feast and Service will take place on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 beginning at noon followed by her body being laid to rest in the Dauphin-Myran Cemetery. Chief Dennis Meeches will led the service.
