With sadness we announce that Donnie Richard Sr. passed away on Sunday, July 8th, 2018 at his home in Long Plain First Nation at the age of 54 years.
Donnie leaves to mourn his passing wife of 33 years Anne Richard, children Christi (Leon), Tammy (Geordon), Donnie Jr. (Sav), Aaron Smith (Shannel), Crystal (Ryan) Alanna (Cecil), Evan Roulette and William Beaulieu, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn his passing are brothers Dennis Richard (Theresa) and Nelson (Stephanie), sisters Terry (Wilfred), Ruby, Pamela and Denise, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Donnie was predeceased by his son Steven “Boss” Smith, father William George Richard, mother Margaret Richard, grandparents Lawrence and Priscilla Richard and Bonifac Genevieve Richard, brother Raymond Richard, sister Wanda Richard, brother-in-law John Thomas Roulette, cousins Isaac and Sonya Richard, nieces Vanessa and Crystal Richard, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Donnie was born and spent his childhood in Gladstone, MB, went to school in Austin, MB and moved around a lot with his family, wherever work was available. Donnie moved in and out of Sandy Bay First Nation throughout his life, and spent his teen years there. Donnie met Anne when he was 21, and they lived in MacGregor where he worked for Ben & Sheldon Wiebe for over 15 years. Donnie and Anne moved to Long Plain First Nation with their kids, where they lived and made their home for 16 years until his passing.
Donnie loved spending time with the kids and grandkids. He spent quite a bit of time playing slots and loved his Thursday and Sunday night poker games with his poker pals and pool with his pool buddies, and he especially loved hunting. Donnie was a jokester, and he made everyone laugh.

you are greatly loved and will be dearly missed .
Two day wake will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge. Feast and Ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge at noon.
