Donald Elton was born September 9, 1937 in Flin Flon, Manitoba to Oswald & Emily Weber. Don attended Notre Dame College in Wilcox, Saskatchewan where he met Joyce (nee Carter) who became his wife of 53 years. Don & Joyce were married September 17, 1957 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and spent the early years of their life together in Flin Flon, Manitoba where four of their five children were born. They moved to the Abbotsford, British Columbia area where they were blessed with their fifth child. Don & Joyce made their way back to the prairies, moving to Poplar Point, Manitoba and retiring in Portage la Prairie.

Don was an active sports enthusiast for many years. In his youth, he pitched a no-hitter in baseball and coached his boys during their youth. He played hockey until his mid-fifties, and also found tremendous enjoyment on the golf course. Weather permitting, Don could be found chasing that dimpled ball. Don was a member of the Portage Golf Club where he became known as “Dark cloud” to his buddies.

Don was an avid reader, especially enjoying factual history. In his younger years, Don also enjoyed hunting, fishing & target shooting. Later in life, Don taught himself to build golf clubs and re-load ammunition, interests he maintained throughout his later years.  Don was a devoted husband, father and friend. He lived his life simply.
