Derek Edward Ferguson
Suddenly on Sunday, October 7th, 2012 Derek Edward Ferguson passed away at the age of 30.
Left to mourn are his parents Ted and Shelly Ferguson; sister Kaley (David) Doty; nieces Montana and Sharlin Doty; nephew Preston Doty. Also deeply saddened are his Ferguson family: grandma Olive Ferguson, Aunt Cheryl Ferguson and Aunt Ferne Maxwell and Uncle John Rankin and McArthur family: Auntie Holly and Uncle Barrie Troop, Uncle Tim and Aunt Bernie McArthur, Uncle Darcy and Aunt Jane McArthur and many McArthur cousins. Waiting for Derek were his grandparents Peter and Maxine McArthur, grandfather Kenneth Ferguson and Uncle Rudy Maxwell.
Derek attended Yellowquill School and graduated from Portage Collegiate Institute in 1999. Following graduation he worked at various occupations. Derek loved all types of sports and especially enjoyed coaching hockey and football. He was a real people person, who loved both young and old. He genuinely cared about everyone who was a part of his life. His love for people extended to animals, especially strays and kittens. Despite the struggles Derek experienced, his heart of gold always shone through. His nieces and nephew were the 'light of his life.

Celebration of Derek's life will take place in the William Glesby Centre (11 a�" 2nd Street NE) on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 2:00 pm led by Colleen Flynn.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends wish, donations may be made in Derek's memory to Children's Wish Foundation, Portage Regional Committee, Box 1106, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3C5.
