Dennis Prince
Was born June 27, 1953 and passed away April 25, 2012 in Portage la Prairie with his loving family at his side at the age of 58 years,
Dennis married Brenda Shepherd June 22, 1985, his oldest son Corey was born March 19, 1976 and his youngest son Jonathon was born August 15, 1994.Besides his wife and sons, Dennis leaves to mourn his brothers; Doug (Helen), Simon (Garda), Larry (Elizabeth), Earl (Marge), Peter (Tara), George, Shane and Kyle, his sisters; Jean, Betty, Leona (Glen), Sandy, Yvette, Yvonne, and Stephanie. His step mom Grace Siha and special sister in laws Florine and Donna Prince. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Dennis is predeceased by his mother Doreen Prince, his Father Rufus Prince, brother Steve Prince, nephew Kirt Prince and niece Jerilyn Dawn.
Dennis really enjoyed socializing with his friends. His passion was playing pool and spending time with friends and family. Dennis joined the Portage Pool League September 2000 and continued to play right up to when his illness prevented him from playing. Those who know him will remember him playing pool long before he joined the pool league. Dennis also had a love for traveling throughout North America. Some of his time traveling was during his youth as a carney and in later years with his family.
Dennis had strong work ethics that he adopted from his mom Doreen and his brother Simon. Dennis worked in the construction industry for most of his life. He discovered his love for plumbing while he was working as an underground pipe layer with Coffel's in Bismarck, North Dakota. In 1986 upon deciding to pursue a career as a plumber, he enrolled in Assiniboine Community College and began his education and his plumbing career, successfully achieving his journeyman in 1990. Dennis did his apprenticeship with Cobbe's Plumbing and Heating in Portage la Prairie. After gaining skills and training with Cobbe's he was provided the opportunity to use his education and skills in his home community of Long Plain First Nation. Dennis provided the community with professional service in the multifaceted areas of construction for years, until his illness prevented him from working, leaving the organization March 12, 2012.
Wake will be held Sunday, April 29 at 4:00 pm at Myers Norris Penny Exhibition Building on Island Park. Traditional Feast will be held on Monday April 30 at 12:00 noon, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at the Prince Longclaws Cemetery at Long Plain First Nation.
