Denis Robidoux

Peacefully on Monday, September 20, 2021, Denis Robidoux passed away at the age of 77 years old. Denis was originally from Haywood, MB, but he spent the last 11 years of his life in care homes. First residing at the Lions Prairie Manor, then to his final home at Douglas Campbell Lodge in Portage la Prairie, MB where he courageously battled dementia.  Denis was predeceased by his loving wife Diane (nee Cote), parents Wilfrid and Eugenie, and brothers Joseph, Emile, Henri; as well as his mother and father in-law Muriel and George Cote, sisters-in-law Fernand and Cecile Robidoux, brothers- in-law Harold Maher, Alan Hjeltman, and nephews Donald Robidoux and Michael Maher.

Left to cherish his memories are his children Normand, Gilles (Carla), Lorraine (Bob) Vandersluis, grandchildren, Courtney (Seth), Brett (Ashley), Isabelle, Christine and Josh.  He was also survived by his sister Yvette (Roland) Jolicoeur, brothers- in-law and sisters- in-law; Annette Robidoux, Jeanette Maher, Gerrard Cote, Edith (Gilbert) Demers, Rachel (Ray) Desmarais, Denis (Cheryl) Cote, Richard (Dianne) Cote, Georgette (Arnold) Van Dijk, Henri (Tammy) Cote, Claudette (Grant) Skene, plus several nieces and nephews.

Denis met and married the love of his life in Haywood, MB where they raised their three children.  He was a quiet man with many talents, including his skill for sports.  Denis loved to play and watch baseball, hockey and curling.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family.  Denis was very proud of his children and all their accomplishments.

Denis had a caring, warm heart and loved spending time spoiling his grandchildren with donuts, candy and snacks while they watched cartoons and enjoyed their time together.  They will always remember Pepere for his love of Tim Horton’s  and cherish the memories of him sneaking them chocolate covered donuts and Timbits to put a smile on their faces.

Everyone is invited to a graveside service for Denis Robidoux on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Haywood Parish Cemetery at 3:00 pm (bring a lawn chair).  The service will be recorded and viewable along with the slideshow on Denis’ obituary page at www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com .

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Denis’ memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba at the Herman Prior Centre – 40 Royal Road North, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1V1 or email alznc@alzheimer.mb.ca.
