Delores Dolly Pashe

On July 25, 2013 Delores (Dolly) Pashe, “Chicoume” passed away peacefully at the Portage District General Hospital. Dolly was born January 14, 1931 on the Long Plain First Nation and lived the latter part of her life on the Dakota Tipi First Nation.

Dolly was predeceased by her parents Angus Merrick and Jean Hobson, sister Myrtle Richard and Shaboominance “Little Gooseberry”, brothers Frank, Louis, Max, Mervin, Manus and Morris Merrick, children: Gerald, Lois, Valerie and Bernice, her husband Bruce Pashe, son Gary Pashe, and grandson Sheldon Pashe.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by sisters: Grace Daniels, Joyce Olsen, Winona Techentin-Klaus, Carol Merrick, Shirley (Roger) Herman, Evelyn Belcher, Memory (Wayne) Merrick and brother Ralph (Florence) Merrick. Children: Barry (Lynn), Keith (Pat), Trudy (James), Cornell (Beth), Arden, Braden and Mary (Brian) and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mom's favorite pastimes included bingo, berry picking, cooking and visiting with her family and extended relatives. She was raised by her grandparents (Tom Stoney & Louise Ida Myran) Mom believed in and loved her Anishinaabe way of life and was known for her kind heart and joyous laughter. She radiated beauty, brought laughter and happiness to those around her. Mom enjoyed the little things in life and was loved by all those who knew her. She lived a good life raising her children and grandchildren and worked previously at Canada Post and Portage Friendship Centre.

The family would like to thank the Chief and Council of Long Plain First Nation, the family of Grace Daniels and the daughters of the late Marlene Peters, David Daniels, Myra Pearson and Cheryle Goodiron from Spirit Lake Dakota Nation, ND. Special thank you to her niece Jacqueline Daniels for all her love and support and our Auntie’s and family who helped prepare for Mom's journey.

Traditional Wake will begin Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 4:00 pm at Long Plain Spirit Lodge.  Traditional Feast and Service will take place on Monday, July 29, 2013 beginning at 11 am.  Interment will follow at the Old Sioux Village Cemetery.
