Darlene Olson suddenly passed away on July 9, 2024 at her home at the age of 75 years.
Darlene was born in Winnipeg then moved to England for several years with her parents. Her family returned to Manitoba with a younger brother (Cleve) in tow. A second brother (Elvin) joined the family once back home. She had wonderful memories of many weekends spent at Big Whiteshell Lake with family and time spent with friends in her neighborhood.
In adulthood she moved to Ontario, back to Manitoba, then Alberta to be closer to her children. Once again, she then came back to her true roots in Manitoba. She enjoyed a career as a property manager, no doubt making many connections with her tenants with her most pleasant, caring and outgoing way. Her greatest pleasure was a night at the casino with her besties Adele and Peanuts (Eleanor), or home watching True Crime.
Darlene will be lovingly remembered by her children Jason (Susan) Nemeth of Calgary, AB and Kristy (Jason) Strong of Edmonton, AB; grandchildren Donovan, Mickayla, and Jailynne , as well as two great-grandchildren; brothers Cleve (Judy) Olson of Warren, MB and Elvin (Wendy) Courchene of Cornwall, UK; nieces and nephews Victoria, Ben, Zoe, Darren, Daniel, Joey and David; and lifelong friends Eleanor Cadette, and Adele MacKenzie. She was predeceased by her father Frederick Olson and mother Elsie Hawkins.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and came to love her.
Sincere thanks to the staff of Regency House in Portage la Prairie where she last resided. Your care and friendship will not be forgotten. Special thanks to Dr. Omar Elgazar for the excellent medical care.
Darlene’s family will celebrate her life privately.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
