With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Craig on Monday, August 20, 2012 in Carbon, AB, at the age of 58 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shelley (nee McDonald) of High River, AB; children David (Alex) Lyall of Strathmore, AB, Dana (Darren) McCallum of Brandon, MB and Carly (Ryan) Kontzie of Portage La Prairie, MB; grandchildren Cortney Lyall, Cassie, Chase and Ethan McCallum and Layne and Brantley Kontzie; parents Roy and Joyce Lyall; sister Sylvia Lyall (Darrell Fiel); mother-in-law Mabel McDonald; sisters-in-law Bev (Art) Barrett, Pam (Floyd) Price all from Portage area as well as many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

Craig was born in Portage and was raised on the Lyall Farm near Edwin. He attended Ferriss School - grades one to five, Rossendale School - grades six to nine, and Portage Collegiate Institute. He married the love of his life Shelley in 1973 residing in the Portage area. Craig worked various jobs Oakland Pool Elevator, Realty 100, Century 21, and his passion was farming. In 1985 we moved closer to the farm near Rossendale, where he enjoyed his summer days working the land.

In 1989 we moved to MacGregor, where he began his restaurant career at Wayne's Family Restaurant. He continued in the restaurant business at the Portage Coop mall, Country Lane Bakery & CafAC. (1993) and Craig's Family Restaurant (1998) to name a few. Craig also had a passion for heavy equipment working with Nelson River Construction. Owning his own Freightliner, long haul driving for many years with companies such as Day & Ross, Kleysons, and Arnold Bros. Lastly residing in High River, AB since 2003 running a Joey's Only Seafood Restaurant. Craig was a part of many organizations and associations through the years. Most recent being The Kinsmen Club of High River.

Craig was well known for his contagious laugh and jokes. He lived to tell his stories and watch people laugh and react. He enjoyed spending time at family BBQ's, especially with his grandkids. Craig loved spending time golfing, biking, travelling. His memories are a keep sake and in our hearts forever, we love you Dad and will miss you, love your family.

Visitation and viewing will take place Monday, August 27, 2012 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Craig's life will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 3:00 pm at the Herman Prior Senior Centre led by Rev Don Callan.
