Peacefully on Wednesday, October 23rd, Charlene Lucier with family by her side passed away at the age of 58 years.
She leaves behind her loving husband Jeffrey Lucier; sons Dan Jiricka and Chad Lucier (Janna); daughter Ashley Lucier; grandchildren, Meadow McBride, Dante and Oaklynn Lucier and her dear friend Lisa Hardy. Also left to mourn are her mother Doris Rey (nee Beaulieu); sister Gisele (Dennis) Wlasichuk; mother-in-law Judith Lucier; sisters-in-law Nancy Mislan and Marilee Bourque; brothers-in-law Terry (Cori) Lucier and Barry (Patrick) Lucier; along with nieces and nephews and many cousins.
She was predeceased by her father Guy Rey; brothers Roger Rey and Gillies Rey; father-in-law Allan Lucier, sisters-in-law Delta Yerlitz and Carla (Chuck) Yerlitz and brother-in-law Jim Bourque.
Mom was born on April 9th, 1966. The youngest of four children, Completing the family of Guy and Doris Rey. Mom grew up in Haywood, Manitoba, and after high school she moved to Winnipeg and eventually The Pas to be closer with her sister and her family, working at the General Hospital. While living in The Pas, she met the love of her life, Jeffrey Lucier. They soon married and settled down in Haywood, having Chad and Ashley. Dad was a long-distance truck driver and mom took on the opportunity to home school on the road, which kept the family together and travel across the provinces and states. Later they resided at Wingham School just North of Elm Creek. Mom decided to go for her Class 1 license and soon enough her and dad were driving to Vancouver and back every week as a team. Her trucking days changed when Chad and Janna were expecting their son, Dante. They both decided to get jobs closer to home to support the young family. Mom became a bus driver for Prairie Rose School Division, but it was short lived due to health problems. Mom battled 7 years of kidney disease, and more recently lung cancer and brain tumours. Mom was determined to overcome the diagnosis, but the Lord called her home.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church in Haywood, MB on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm, with Father Peter Le Van Ngu officiating. There will be viewing prior to the service, the eulogy and slideshow at 1:30 pm followed by Mass at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Haywood Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Charlene’s memory to the Diabetes Canada (Manitoba), 401-1 Wesley Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4C6.
