Brian Johnston

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Brian Johnston on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Portage District General Hospital at the age of 69 years.

Brian grew up in the Longburn area, and farmed on the family farm.

Brian will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Suzanne (nee Breton) Johnston of Portage la Prairie, MB; daughter Mélissa (Edwin) Sorto with grandchildren Dimas, Mileena and Mina of Carman, MB; daughter Marion (Darryl) Roy with grandson Logan of Binscarth, MB; daughter Julie-Anne Johnston of Portage la Prairie, MB; brother John (Jytte) Johnston of Portage la Prairie, MB; sister Maxine Kehler of Calgary, AB; brother-in-law Rene Ammann of Winnipeg, MB, as well as three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law in Québec and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Brian was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Emma (nee Weibe) Johnston, sister Sandra Ammann and granddaughter Maria Sorto.

A service to Celebrate Brian’s life will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Dolloff officiating. Private family interment will take place at a later date at Longburn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Brian’s memory to Longburn Cemetery c/o Brad Knight, RR1 Box 24 Macdonald, MB, R0H 0S0, or to St. Boniface Hospital Foundation – Cardiac Research 409 Tache Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R2H 2A6.
