Bradley James Thiessen

Peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2025, Brad Thiessen passed away at Lions Prairie Manor in Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 61 years.

Brad is survived by his father Jacob Thiessen of Portage la Prairie, MB, siblings Billy Thiesen (Darlene Figus) and Theresa (Mike) Saltise of Portage la Prairie, MB, Rodney (Lesley) Thiessen of Salmon Arm, BC, and Angela Ducharme and Roxanne Thiessen of Portage la Prairie, MB, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Brad was predeceased by his mother Jean (nee Sanderson) Thiessen.

From an early age, Brad enjoyed playing and watching all kinds of sports, his favorite being hockey, and he loved playing street hockey with his neighbourhood friends. He also played on the Rangers baseball team for several years. We could always count on Brad to be the comedian at family gatherings and events. Brad completed his education in Portage where he lived and worked all his life. He started working as a newspaper delivery person followed by a job at Safeway, and then Campbells Soup, completing his work by driving taxi for several years, where he met several of his current friends. Struggling with his health from an early age, Brad always kept a positive attitude and outlook. He was always willing to help anyone in need, even if it was just a good laugh, and he was always the level head and positive influence when it was needed.

Next time you watch a hockey game or drink a Pepsi (Brad’s favorite) Please think of Brad always with a smile on his face.

A come and go viewing and visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Brad’s memory to P.A.W.S or any animal rescue organization.
