Bob 'Bobby C' Chartrand

May 17, 1964 — April 12, 2025

With sadness we announce that Bobby C began his journey to the Spirit World on April 14, 2025 at the age of 60 years.

Left to mourn his passing are his common-law wife Doris Daniels, daughter Kristan Richard, son Ryan Pashe, step children Tara, Candy, Jeremy, Shaun and Krystal, special grandson ‘Izzybear’,Goddaughter Meadow Assiniboine, siblings Rose Beaulieu, Doreen Genaille, Rod (Madgeline) Chartrand, Jean Chartrand, Gloria Whitford, Fred (Anna) Chartrand, Ted (Helen) Chartrand and Gary Chartrand, in-laws Cecil Pashe, Morris (Betty) Daniels, Leona Meechas and Du-Wayne Daniels and his adopted Peters family who took him as a brother as well as numerous extended family, life-long buddies and friends too numerous to mention.

He was predeceased by his parents Madeline and Fred Chartrand, siblings Gordon, Joseph, George, Gilbert, Lawrence and Edna, brothers-in-law Big Joe, Harvey, Maurice, Gary, Gerald, Glenn and Laverne and sister-in-law Velma.

Bob was born May 17, 1964 in Swan River, MB, the youngest of all his siblings, and raised in Portage la Prairie, MB.He worked for Espo Farms, Long Plain Public Works and for many years as a volunteer firefighter with the Long Plain Fire Department. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed golfing, playing VLTs and Radio Bingo, quadding and hanging out with friends He also enjoyed cooking - making his famous flour soup and omelettes.

Bob practiced Ojibway culture, sang Pow Wow, and followed the Pow Wow trail with his friends. He went on a cultural tour of Bolivia and Taiwan, teaching Ojibway Culture. He had a special relationship with his grandson ‘Izzybear’, who he taught to sing pow wow as a young child, made a hand drum with and sang with whenever they had the chance.

Bobby C was outgoing, kind, respectful to everyone, liked to help people when he could, and liked to share a good laugh. Bob would want everyone to share memories, to keep smiling, and to be grateful for all of the time he was able to enjoy with family and friends.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the firekeepers, cooks, people who donated, and to all friends and family for their support.

Wake will begin at 4:00pm on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge, Feast & Ceremony will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 12:00 noon at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge. Burial will follow at Dauphin Myerion Cemetery.

A tree will be planted and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.
