Peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2019, Beverly Field passed away at the Manitoba Development Centre at the age of 81 years.
Beverly was born at Minitonas, MB the second child of Patrick and Olga Field. Predeceased by her parents, sisters Patricia Field and Sandra (Nerada), she is survived by her sister Gail and husband Len (Rivers), nephews Patrick Field, Rob and Jay Nerada, Mark Rivers, and nieces Ceone Fournier, Trudie Schimpf, and Michelle Rivers and their respective families.
At the age of 1 1/2 years she contracted whooping cough which compromised her mental development. She became a resident of the Manitoba Development Centre (MDC) at the age of sixteen and for the next 66 years participated in the many excursions, developmental activities and workshops at MDC. She was always a joy to be around often bringing a smile to those with whom she associated. Her love of animals especially cats, dogs, and horses was evident to all who knew her. Family and extended family remained an important part of her life and while on country drives, from her front passenger seat, a smile always on her face, she would reach over and rest her hand, like a gentle caress on the hand of the driver.
Beverly was a very special and dear soul to not only family but to the multitude of truly compassionate caregivers at the MDC. She will be missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Aspen Centre at MDC on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 1:30 pm. Interment will take place in the Minitonas Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers any donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada, MB Branch, Unit 1-452 Dovercourt Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3Y 1G4.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. 204-857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
