With her family by her side Bertha Puddicombe passed away on December 29, 2023 at Portage District General Hospital at the age of 76 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Debbie Semerak, Kim Puddicombe, and Ronald Puddicombe, her grandchildren Blair (Devin) Semerak, Seth Puddicombe, Torrie Major-Puddicombe, and Izzy Major-Puddicombe, her siblings Liz Gilbertson, Nick Bakala, Jim (Holly) Bakala, Paula (Tom) Francis and Ella (Brian) McDonald. As well as her childhood friend/sister-in-law Betty (Bill) Puddicombe, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Nick Bakala, mother Elizabeth (Liz) Bakala, brother Karel Bakala and sister-in-law Marilyn Bakala.
Bertha was born in Elk Point, Alberta her family moved to Amesdale, Ontario in 1951. She resided in Dryden, ON, Winnipeg, MB and settled in Portage la Prairie, MB for the last 22 years of her life. She spent her golden years playing Bingo, going on trips with Ella and Spank, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved watching Seth play basketball and perform with the Metis Prairie Steppers, she was able to attend a performance in October and was over the moon.
Following Bertha’s wishes a graveside service will be held in the spring at the Amesdale, Ontario Cemetery, the family will provide more information closer to the service.
