With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Bernard “Barney” Wiebe, on July 2, 2020 at Lions Prairie Manor at the age of 84 years.
Left to cherish Barney’s memory are his beloved wife Tina Wiebe, daughter Bonnie (Brian) Ginter, daughter-in-law Dora Wiebe, grandchildren Lisa (Steve) Roch, Kristi (Jason) Perkins, Tyler Wiebe, Caitlyn Ginter, Sarah Wiebe (Chase) and Scott Wiebe, great-grandchild Aubrey, siblings John (Elma) Wiebe, Jake (Louella) Wiebe, George (Hilda) Wiebe, Tina (Ernie) Buhler, Peter (Hilda) Wiebe, Helen (Jim) Friesen and Sam Wiebe, as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Barney was predeceased by his parents Henry and Agnus Wiebe, son Robert Wiebe, sister Nettie Konrad and brother Henry Wiebe.
Dad was born on July 1, 1936 and raised in Aberdeen, SK. He moved to Austin, MB in 1945 with his family. He met his wife Tina through church and they were married on September 14, 1958. They spent close to 62 years of marriage together, and had two children, Robert and Bonnie.
Dad was employed first with J.P. Wiebe Farms, then moved on to his own business for a few years. From there he worked at MacGregor Hospital and then switched jobs and worked at MDC for 14 years before he retired in 2002. But, Dad never really retired. He went on and volunteered at numerous places and ended up working at MCC until he sustained his injury.
Dad had numerous hobbies and was very creative, whether it was repairing an old toy or creating pens, lawn ornaments, or whatever he could envision making in his mind. Dad loved the outdoors. Mom and Dad spent many years creating a beautiful showcase garden, which we still talk about today.
Dad was a very loving, caring and generous man. He loved his wife, kids, grandchildren, and his great-grandchild Aubrey, and was proud of every one of them.
We love you and miss you always, and you are forever in our hearts until we see you again.
