Charles Barry Martin Greenslade
Peacefully with family by his side, Barry Greenslade, passed away on Sunday,September 2, 2012 at the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg at the age of 73 years.
Predeceased by his parents Harry and Viola Mae, brother Don, sister-in-law Marion andgrandson Ryne Greenslade.He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Ethel Mae; daughter Robin (Robert)Hutchinson, Nicola Mae, Madeline; son Chris (Lauren), Riker, Skylar, Tyson, Riley; sonFred (Loreley), Carter, Harry, Ben; daughter Lori-Dee (Stephen) Anderson, Kylan,Chaylee; son Kelly (Stephanie), Stella, Sophie Mae.Barry was born on the Greenslade Homestead in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
From anearly age, Barry- a farm boy at heart- left an impression on people and was asked tojoin the business community beginning at the bank, then Vopni Press and eventuallyowning and operating Stewart Greenslade Insurance.A prominent business man, his drive, character, and practice of putting people first leadto the success of his business. This same passion and drive benefited the community through his service with organizations such as the Junior Chamber of Commerce, theKinsmen Club, the Rotary Club and most recently the Portage Foundation.Barry made many friends through these clubs, curling, golf, music, and through all hisvarious pursuits. Yet he always found time to express and share his creativity withothers through his woodworking, graphic design, and voice.
His ability to smile, encourage others and share his wisdom made Barry a valuablementor and life coach for many.Barry's greatest joy was being a loving husband, "Daddy", "Pops", "Bampa", "Grandpa"and "Papa".
A romantic at heart, Barry was gentle, strong, witty, kind, funny, caring, loving, devoted,welcoming, and had a great passion for life.He was a champion of people. And now he's gone to be with the Boss.
Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 1:30 pm at Trinity UnitedChurch, 15 Tupper Street S., Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
