Barrie Jean Scarrett

Peacefully on Thursday, January 14, 2010, Barrie passed away in the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 67 years, after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis.

She was predeceased by her parents Audrey and David Gray, brother Jim and brother-in-law Gerry Wallis. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Herb, sons Colin and Sean (Savanna), grandchildren Seth, Avery and Jessalyn; sisters Pat Wallis, Geri and Jackie Gray, Lorrie Sudoski (Mike), nephew Michael Sudoski (Jen), niece Carey (John) Snively, great nieces and nephews Emma and Quinn Snively and David Sudoski.

Barrie Jean was born January 5, 1943 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Her family moved to Winnipeg after the war and resided in St. James, MB. Barrie Jean attended Brittania School and St. James Collegiate. She married Herb Scarrett on November 6, 1965 and resided in Portage la Prairie.

Barrie worked in Portage for Smith Motors, Andy' Cleaners, Perths Cleaners and later became the bookkeeper at Portage Golf Club and helped Herb in the Golf Shop for a number of years.

Barrie adored her grandchildren and regularly attended all their activities and hockey games.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service. A private family farewell will take place at a later date.
