Barbara Jean Robbins (nee Munro) late of Brandon MB, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2014 in the Fairview Home in Brandon, in her 97th year.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband David Robbins in 1998. She was predeceased early in childhood by her mother Rosella and infant brother, in adulthood by her father Alexander Munro, sisters Mary Munro and Helen Soloway.
Barbara is survived by her son Syd (Lois) Robbins of Virden MB, daughter Audrey Robbins of Edmonton AB, and grandchildren Sean Robbins of Meadow Lake SK and Heidi Robbins of Brandon MB.
Barbara was born in the Elm River District on October 20, 1917 and grew up there on the family farm. In 1940, she listened to the gospel and made her choice to serve God. That faith begotten in her sustained her through life's experiences, brought contentment in declining years, and peace to the end of life's journey.
Barbara married David Robbins on October 26, 1950. They farmed in the Bannerman district until moving to Killarney in 1954. Mom loved her family, her home, and friends. She took a great interest in gardening and homemaking, as well as nursing at the Killarney General Hospital until retiring in 1976. In 1984, Dad and Mom moved to Portage La Prairie, where they continued to enjoy their many friends in the Portage area, and their home and garden on 20th St. NW.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Glesby Center, 11 - 2nd St. NE, Portage La Prairie, MB with viewing prior to the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Portage La Prairie.
